Robi leads the way in 4G service

Dhaka, 19 December 2023: As the mobile industry leans more on data business, Robi has already taken an unassailable lead in the market in 4G business. Currently, 4G subscribers (3.5 crore) make up 60.5% of the company’s total subscriber base (5.8 crore). In terms of proportion of 4G subscribers, this is by far the highest in the telecom industry.

Robi also boasts the highest 4G population coverage (98.59%) among all the mobile operators powered by more than 16,600 4G sites. The key to the rapid growth of Robi’s 4G business lies in the high penetration rate of 4G devices among its subscribers. At the moment, a staggering- 70.5% of the devices in Robi network are 4G capable.

In terms of data users, 77% of Robi’s total subscribers are data users, which again is the highest proportion of data users in the industry. Interestingly, 80% of Robi’s total data users are using internet through 4G.

Commenting on Robi’s lead in 4G business, the company’s Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer, Shahed Alam said: “Robi's 4G has become much stronger than before by utilizing the 2600 MHz spectrum. Voice over LTE (VoLTE) users are also enjoying superior voice quality on their devices powered by its strong 4G network. Our dedicated focus and sustained investment have helped us to reach this commanding position in the 4G business.”

Robi Axiata became the country's first mobile phone operator to launch 4G telecommunications services in 64 districts in 2018. The company achieved this landmark on the first day of 4G’s commercial launch.
