Robi- Roar Bangla lekhok adda held

Dhaka, 26 December 2018: The leading digital service provider, Robi, and the country’s popular alternative digital media, Roar Bangla, have jointly organized an informal gathering of young writers- “Robi-Roar Bangla Lekhok Adda”, recently, at the Robi corporate office. The event was intended to inspire the young writers who contribute to Roar Bangla on a regular basis.

Gazi TV and online media, Sarabangla’s Editor-in-Chief, Syed Ishtiaq Reza, Grey Bangladesh’s Creative Director, Russel Mahmud, Robi’s Vice President, Media, Communication and Sustainability, Ekram Kabir, Roar Bangla’s CEO, Munimul Islam and Roar Bangla’s Editor-in-Chief, Abdullah Al Mahmud were present at the adda as special guests.

Sharing his thoughts on the digitization of content, Gazi TV and online media, Sarabangla’s Editor-in-Chief, Syed Ishtiaq Reza said: “Digital content is changing the way we write these days. People prefer to read write-ups that are conversational in nature. However, it is very important to use credible sources when developing research based knowledge contents.”

Grey Bangladesh’s Creative Director, Russel Mahmud in his speech recognized the growing need of quality writers as they are becoming increasingly rare these days. He assured the young writers that they can make a decent living out of creative writing in this day and age.

The topic of the adda was: “digitization of content”. An in-depth discussion was held on how the content will evolve with the rapid growth of digital lifestyle in our society in future. It was recognized at the adda that Robi’s country-wide strong network is a key enabler for taking the knowledge-based contents of Roar Bangla to all over the country.

In this context, Roar Bangla’s CEO, Munimul Islam expressed the organization’s desire to continue encouraging the young writers to ignite the power within them with a view to help in the digital transformation of the society.

Robi’s Vice President, Media, Communication and Sustainability, Ekram Kabir opined that the telecom operators are going to be the key catalysts in the upcoming digital revolution. He also highlighted the impact already felt in the way communicate and interact with each other because of the ongoing digitalization of the country.

At the end of the programme, Roar Bangla recognized the best writer, the most popular writer and the most hard-working writer of 2018 with special awards. The Roar Bangla’s editors’ panel selected the winners. The winner of the quiz contest held for the occasion was also given a special gift.

Having started its operation on the 1st of September, 2016, Roar Bangla has already established itself as the credible source of knowledge-based articles in the country. A total of 120 young writers are regularly contributing to the platform. In order to cater to the needs of the smartphone users, Roar Bangla has also unveiled a mobile app for its readers.
