It is almost hard to believe that in our country, there are still valiant freedom fighters who have risked their lives in battle, witnessed their comrades becoming martyrs, lost loved ones, and brought victory after nine months of bloodshed and relentless struggle – and yet, for many of them the symbol of that hard-won victory - the National Martyrs’ Memorial - remained unseen, a distant dream.
But their wait has finally come to an end.
In this month of Victory, four of these valiant heroes of ’71 - Abdus Sattar Molla of Sector 7, Shamsul Alam of Sector 3, Hiralal Munda of Sector 4, and Nazim Uddin Khan of Sector 11 - stood before the sacred monument and saw it for the first time. Old stories resurfaced, memories were reignited, and the fires of 1971 burned anew in their hearts.
Robi is honoured to have taken this initiative for our esteemed freedom fighters.
